Profession: A full-time politician and part-time farmer. He lives in his ancestral home in Mundhela Khurd, close to the Haryana border.

Education: Left studies after Class X.

Political Career: Entered politics in 2003 when he contested the assembly election as an Independent candidate. Prior to this he was a fireman with the Delhi Fire Service. “As a fireman I was already helping people in distress but I wanted to make social service my full time vocation. So I quit the government job and plunged into politics,” he said.

Family: Kharb’s father used to work in defence services. Post retirement he took up farming full time. Wife Anita Devi is a housewife. They have two sons and a daughter.

Assets: Kharb has an ancestral house in his village where he lives with his family. He has a Bajaj scooter but claims he travels by DTC bus for daily commuting. “I do not have the money to buy a car,” he said.
