He said that the Rathi family never harassed Akanksha or her husband Aniruddha, who died of a heart attack in September.

Vinod Aggarwal, whose daughter is married to Aniruddha’s cousin Udit, said the Rathi family had always supported the couple.

“The Rathi family has suffered three back-to-back blows. First Aniruddha, then his mother and now Akanksha. All allegations being levelled against them are baseless. My daughter is married to the same family and she never had a single complaint against them,” Aggarwal said.

If Aggarwal’s claims are to be believed, it was Akanksha who could not adjust with the family. “She wanted to move out of her in-laws’ house in south Delhi since the beginning. She influenced Aniruddha to such an extent that he agreed to shift to Indore with her,” said Aggarwal.
