Recalling Pakistan President Zardari's recent statement that Taliban has a presence in "huge amounts of land" in that country, Shukla said the neighbouring country should take steps to dismantle all terrorist organisations and if they take honest action, the international community would also help in the endeavour.

The Congress leader said he had spoken about the threat being faced by Pakistan while participating in the debate on the Mumbai terror attacks in the Rajya Sabha in December last year.

Shukla while taking part in the debate on the issue had said that "... Pakistan government has no control... We are under a wrong impression that the elected government in Pakistan wields power there. Fundamentalists have a lot of influence there, which is increasing by the day. All such groups don't care about the government there..."

Zardari had said in a television interview that Taliban was present in "huge amounts of land" in the country, extending its reach beyond the tribal belt to larger cities like Peshawar.
