The doctor, Naseer Hussain, from Karnataka, is posted as a junior resident with the gynaecology department. Police said Hussain jumped from the terrace of a building on the college campus at 7.15am. “He was found lying in a pool of blood,” said a police officer. Police said Hussain was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre. His condition is said to be critical, but stable. “He has suffered severe head injuries, fractures in the chest and limbs,” the officer said.

Police are yet to ascertain the reason, which made Hussain take the extreme step. “Enquiries from his friends revealed that he took the step as he was not being allowed to go on leave, but the hospital authorities claim they had not received any leave application from him,” he said.
