Robbers who targeted schools held

The police have arrested a gang of five robbers, who targeted schools, electric sub-stations and construction sites in Dwarka area of southwest Delhi, police said.

The police have arrested a gang of five robbers, who targeted schools, electric sub-stations and construction sites in Dwarka area of southwest Delhi, police said.

The arrests were made by the Crime Branch’s Special Operation Squad. The accused were identified as Mohd Ali, Mohd Salim, Ashok Kumar, Prakash Kumar and Gopal Singh.

“This gang had specialised in committing robberies and night burglaries. They targeted schools, construction sites and electric sub-stations in Dwarka. They used to open fire at the slightest provocation," said Neeraj Thakur, additional commissioner of police (crime).

They were caught by BSES staff and local residents while committing a burglary in an electric sub-station on September 7. They opened fire at locals and police to escape.

Head constable C Krishan Kumar and a BSES staff member sustained gunshot injuries.
