Police arrested two of the accused — Kamal Goel (40) a manager in a multi-crore construction company and Vinay Mishra (25) a self-proclaimed national level boxer — and recovered Rs 1.4 crore from them.

According to the police, the boy, whose identity has been concealed on the request of the family, was kidnapped on January 22.

“The car he was in was intercepted by the accused. They overpowered the driver and took away the boy,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Atul Katiyar.

The first ransom call, for Rs 2 crore, came the same evening the boy was kidnapped, Katiyar said. And on January 23, the family paid Rs 1.5 crore without informing the police, after which the boy was released.
