SC notice to govt to bring IB, R&AW under parliament

The Supreme Court issued notice to the Centre on a PIL seeking to make intelligence agencies - Intelligence Bureau (IB), Research Analysis Wing (R&AW) and National Technical Research Organization (NTRO) - accountable to Parliament.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Altamas Kabir issued notice to the security agencies and also sought a response from the ministry of home affairs. The NGO, Centre for Public Interest Litigation, also appealed for financial auditing of the agencies by CAG since they are funded by government funds which, they alleged, are misused for political purposes.
