The Supreme Court on Friday asked the Election Commission of India to refrain from making "over-anxious" decisions. The court's observation came during the hearing of poll-watchdog's appeal against the Gujarat High Court direction that quashed the panel's order to seize cash above Rs. 2.5 lakh in Gujarat under its model code of conduct imposed ahead of the assembly elections.

"It (EC) has done good work in the last few years and we must appreciate it. We must give credit to you for this but sometimes you do something in over-anxiety," a bench headed by Justice DK Jain said. The bench, however, did not pass any order and adjourned the hearing for Monday.
