Security guard helps avert dacoity attempt

A 23-year-old private security guard wrestled with five robbers and managed to overpower one of them even after suffering gunshot injuries in outer Delhi’s Bawana area in the early hours of Tuesday.

A 23-year-old private security guard wrestled with five robbers and managed to overpower one of them even after suffering gunshot injuries in outer Delhi’s Bawana area in the early hours of Tuesday.

The security guard not only averted the dacoity attempt of the robbers but also helped police arrest a notorious criminal of the outer district. The security guard, identified as Chandan Kumar Jha, is presently undergoing treatment at a government hospital, police said.

The robber, who was overpowered by Jha with the help of his fellow guard Vikas, has been identified as Jasveer.

According to the officer, the matter came to fore when the police received a call about a firing incident in Bawana Sector-2 Industrial area.

After the call, the officer said, a police team reached the spot and learnt that a security guard and his fellow guard has caught one of the five assailants who had arrived at an under construction building site with the intention of robbery.

"Jha suffered pellets of a bullet in his head and right hand. His condition is stable," he said.
