Shootouts in Delhi, Rs 5 lakh looted from ATM

In two separate incidents of robberies, bike borne armed robberes attacked the guards of ATMs and took away Rs 5 lakh today in New Delhi.

In two separate incidents of robberies, bike borne armed robberes attacked the guards of ATMs and took away Rs 5 lakh today in New Delhi.

In the first incident, armed with a country-made pistol, four robbers on two bikes arrived at Kotak Mahindra Bank ATM near Vardhan Mall in Dwarka sector 7 at about 9:45 am. They fired when the ATM machine was being loaded. The bullet hit the guard of the ATM in his arm, but the robbers failed to take away money. The guard was later admitted to the a government hospital and is recovering.

Around the same time, four men on two bikes attacked an Indian Overseas Bank van near its ATM, in South Extension I market. The robbers shot at the guard and managed to steal about Rs 5 lakh from the van. The guard was shot in the arm and has been admitted to a government hospital, where he too, is reported to be recovering.
