Shots were fired in air before fatal shootout
Though the Delhi Police claimed they did not find anything amiss at the Chattarpur farmhouse when they reached there 40 minutes before the fatal shooting incident, their own investigations have revealed bullets were fired in the air a few minutes before their arrival at the spot.
Joint CP (southwest range) Vivek Gogia has confirmed shots were fired in the air when Ponty’s men barged into the farmhouse.
“The caller did not say anything about firing. Our men didn’t find anything there. It was when they returned that the shootout started,” Gogia said.
The officers, who had gone to Chhatarpur in response of the PCR call, had reported that “everything was peaceful”. But bullets were fired in the air when Ponty’s men were trying to enter the farmhouse forcibly.
“The locals were aware about the firing and scuffle. The PCR personnel could have alerted the local police after making queries from the neighbours,” said a member of Chadha family.
A source in the PCR said as per procedure local police (Mehrauli) was informed about the incident and they even tried to return the call.
“The call had come from the Chattarpur area and our men had called back but the phone was not reachable. They returned after that,” he said.
