Six held in Delhi for dacoity in Ghaziabad

Six men were arrested in south Delhi for their alleged involvement in an armed dacoity at a wholesale iron market in Ghaziabad, police said on Monday.

Six men were arrested in south Delhi for their alleged involvement in an armed dacoity at a wholesale iron market in Ghaziabad, police said on Monday.

Bharat, 19, Rakesh, 24, Shyam Lal, 35, Radhey Shyam, 24, Guddu Sharma, 35, and Sushil Shukla, 25, are involved in several cases of armed robbery and car jacking in Ghaziabad, said Chhaya Sharma, DCP (south).

“As soon as Bharat and Rakesh were apprehended from RK Puram on the basis of specific information on May 6, they confessed to having been involvement in a dacoity of Rs. 43 lakh perpetrated at the Loha Mandi in Ghaziabad on April 10,” DCP said.

On the basis of their disclosure, police said, other members of the gang — Sushil Shukla, Radhey Shyam, Guddu Sharma and Ghanshyam —were also apprehended from Safdarjung Enclave hours later.

During interrogation, the gang said they had decided to target an iron trader after getting information about a transaction involving loads of money.
