Soumya's murder: small cars suspect now

On Wednesday, police had given a clean chit to a BMW sports utility vehicle, pieces of whose rear-view mirror were found near Soumya’s car, reports Karan Choudhury.

On Wednesday, police had given a clean chit to a BMW sports utility vehicle, pieces of whose rear-view mirror were found near Soumya’s car.

“The tread marks of the tyres found at the spot where she (Soumya) was killed belong to a much smaller car. We are not ruling out anything, but our main focus is smaller and mid-segment cars,” said a senior police officer.

“A remarkable coincidence” is how the officers explain the presence of the BMW’s mirror near Soumya’s car.

The much-awaited forensic report of the car, which might help the police in getting important leads in the case, is expected only by Monday. The police had specially called in scrap dealers from Okhla to help in collecting evidence from within a radius of one kilometre. But even ten days after the murder, investigation has not yielded any leads.
