Surajkund Mela opens amid fanfare, expectations

Union Minister for Tourism Subodh Kant Sahai, who was the chief guest on the occasion, declared the mela open around 4pm in the presence of chief minister of Haryana Bhupinder Singh Hooda, chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Kiran Kumar Reddy and several ministers, bureaucrats and diplomats.
The mela venue looked like a mini-Andhra Pradesh, with its famous historical monuments, cuisine and exquisite handicrafts. "Being the silver jubilee celebration, Surajkund Mela will attract global tourists and tourists from different parts of India," said SN Rai, director, Haryana Tourism.
"The tourists will enjoy cuisine, arts and crafts of Andhra Pradesh in this mela," said Vatti Vasant Kumar, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Andhra Pradesh while briefing mediapersons at Surajkund.
How to reach the venue:
Surajkund lies 8 km from south Delhi. The venue is easily accessible by road. Buses are available from ISBT, Sarai Kale Khan, Haryana Emporium Baba Kharag Singh Marg.
