Till now, the civic agency has registered a total of 1.11 lakh employees under the biometric attendance system.
The survey has been ordered by the Appointments and Promotion Committee of MCD to determine the number of employees in each department and measure it up against the requirement.
Say for instance there are 50 gardeners in a particular zone but the number of parks there is much less — the survey will take this into account and shift them to other departments where there is a shortage.
“As we did not have such a database before, we were unable to assess the required manpower of each department. Now we will be able to distribute work and responsibilities proportionately. Once the survey is done, MCD will work better,” said a senior official of MCD.
The civic body has also completed the compilation of employees service system under which details such as name, date of birth, department, postings, and date of retirement of each employee has been gathered.
