Tagore International celebrates French National Day

Tagore International School, Vasant Vihar, celebrated French National Day. Students of classes 7 to 9, with French as their optional subject, participated.

The celebration consisted of a speech in French by a student, telling the students about the significance of the day, followed by a march past by the senior students dressed in blue, white and red - the national colours of France. A choir sang the melodious song Aux Champs-Elysees which was met by a huge applause in the end.

To conclude the event, another choir sang the national anthem of France, La Marseillaise, which was sung by Frenchmen to call their fellow brothers to arms and fight back against the corrupt king during French revolution. The words of the anthem are, 'Aux armes, citoyens, Formez vos bataillons, Marchons, marchons...' which translate as 'To arms, citizens, form your battalions and let's march! Let's march!'. The event was quite appreciated by the principal who congratulated French teachers and students for coming up with the idea of celebrating this day .

St. Mary's School, Dwarka, recently organised a science exhibition. The exhibition focused on the theme 'Science: An Attitude, Temperament and Perspective', as the year 2011 has been declared the International Year of Chemistry. It was inaugurated by Dr Arun Kumar, Assistant Professor, Amity University, Noida.

The exhibition brought forth the work put together by students during summer vacations. The display showcased a variety of exhibits relating to various aspects of science such as discoveries, myths and facts, exploration and science in dark ages. A large number of parents and visitors graced the occasion with their presence.

Maxfort School, Pitampura, held its yearly exposition 'PRASTUTI 2011' recently. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp by principal Mona Lakhanpal along with the heads of the other branches. The principal inaugurated the ceremony and addressed the audience highlighting how project work has gained a strong foothold in Maxfort curriculum as it generates students' interest in the subject besides encouraging active enquiry and higher order thinking.

Exposition is an exposure to different themes and concepts through hands-on experience. During this, the students take up the active role of investigator, problem-solver and decision-maker.

The day also witnessed a cultural extravaganza, exhibiting the talents of the students. Class 6 students performed a 'balancing act' and dance on the theme 'Balance' along with a musical orchestra presentation. Class 7 students presented a Robot dance followed by 'The Zenith' - a presentation by Class 8 students on 'Oorja', the cosmic energy. Students of Classes 1, 2 and 3 showcased their talents through various dramatisations and dances.

The classrooms were beautifully decorated according to the themes and the students were actively and confidently participating and explaining their projects. Parents and visitors from other schools appreciated and applauded the efforts and hard work of the students and teachers.
