The Code of Conduct was signed between the Union President Raghunath Pandey and Tata Steel Managing Director B Muthuraman at a function, according to a company release here.

Describing it as a "historical event", Muthuraman pointed out that ethical conduct has been a hallmark of the business philosophy of the tatas, which has ensured sustainable development of the company.

"The ethical reputation of the company has enabled it to win businesses in different parts of the world," he said while launching the Tata Code of Conduct, 2008 version, which has global focus because of the footprint of Tata across the globe, it said.

Pandey said the union has always adhered to the Code of Conduct since its introduction in 1998.
