A 14-year-old domestic help with a senior government official commits suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of the official's Lodhi Colony home.
A 14-year-old domestic help with a senior government official on Monday committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of the official's Lodhi Colony home in South Delhi.
Taposi was found hanging at around 11.50 am in the study room of Sutapa Majumdar, deputy secretary with the Planning Commission, at her Pragati Vihar Hostel.
According to police, Majumdar, her husband Robin and their two school going sons reside in the house. The girl was brought for domestic work from West Bengal six months ago.
"Taposi served the food to the couple's elder son and then went inside the study room. After some time the boy found her hanging from the ceiling of the room," a police official said.
No suicide note was found from the home yet.
"We are trying to establish the cause of her extreme step. A case has been registered and further investigations are on," a police official said.
