Teen suicide: Parents blame girl’s family

His parents alleged that the girl’s family was against their friendship as they were from a “middle class family” and had instigated him to prove his love for the girl by “killing himself.”

The boy, identified as Samarth Gupta, a class XII student of Maharaja Agrasen School, reportedly ended his life on Sunday after he was reprimanded by his girlfriend’s father who asked him to stay away from his daughter.

“His girlfriend’s father threatened my son to stay away from her and that if he really loved her, he should kill himself. To prove that he truly did, he killed himself,” said Vijay Kumar Gupta, boy's father.

Gupta’s parents alleged that their son was being repeatedly threatened on phone also.

“My brother was beaten up in the school premises. First the girl’s father beat him up and then his driver. He asked Samarth that if he was not killing time with his daughter and was serious about the relationship he should prove it,” said Vaishali Gupta, a cousin.
