Theatre personality Jayashree takes oath as Rajya Sabha member

Noted theatre personality B Jayashree today took oath as a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha.

Noted theatre personality B Jayashree on Monday took oath as a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha.

Jayashree affirmed her allegiance to the Constitution in Kannada.

Grand daughter of Gubbi Veeranna, the renowned comedian of Kannada theatre and founder of drama company Gubbi Company, Jayshree is recognised as one of Karnataka's best threatre artistes.

A recipient of several awards, including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1997, she established the theatre group,
Spandana, in Bangalore in 1973.
