Thanks to the court, the Games logo escaped misuse by a travel and tourism company. On Monday, the court imposed a fine of R10,000 on a travel and tourism company, Gets Holidays, that was illegally doing business with the logo and the domain www.commonwealthgamesdelhi2010.org.

The Games Organising Committee moved court after finding that the company, through this website was offering tour and travel services and packages for stay in India during the Games.

On April 16, Justice S. Ravindra Bhat had restrained the company, and anyone directly or indirectly involved with its functioning, from using the domain.

The Organising Committee’s lawyer Pravin Anand argued in court that use of the mark by the company was bringing disrepute to India as the logo was being put to commercial use.

“The Court is of the opinion that Commonwealth Games Committee has been able to establish infringement by the tourism company,” Bhat said.
