Two gangs of robbers and burglars busted, 7 held

The crime branch of the Delhi Police on Monday busted two gangs of robbers and burglars with the arrest of seven persons.

The crime branch of the Delhi Police on Monday busted two gangs of robbers and burglars with the arrest of seven persons. With this, the police claimed to have solved several cases of robbery and burglary reported in the city in the recent past.

The members of the first gang have been identified as Sheikh Sanwar, 25, Sheikh Abbas, 19, Sheikh Ali, 19 and Sheikh Saurabh, 22, all hailing from Jahangirpuri area in north Delhi. The police action came on a specific input that the four will come to Bhalaswa Lake in the area in a car.

"After intercepting the vehicle, we arrested all the four. During interrogation it came to light they have been involved in several cases of robbery and burglary," said Ashok Chand, DCP (crime).

The members of the second gang have been identified as Narsimha, 30, Ramesh, 28 and Puneet, 29. Police recovered gold ornaments worth R1.25 lakh and R36,500 in cash from them.

The gang, most of whose members are from south India, has been involved in eight cases of robbery and burglary in the capital, said the DCP.
