Two killed, 12 injured in Delhi road accident

The accident was caused by a head-on collision between an overspeeding mini truck and a taxi in Mehrauli.

Two people were killed and 12 sustained critical injuries in a head-on collision between an overspeeding mini truck and a taxi on Monday, police said.

The accident took place at around 9.30 am in Sanjay Colony area of Mehrauli in south Delhi.

According to police, the mini truck carrying 25 labourers overturned after the two vehicles collided at a high speed.

The victims were immediately rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where doctors declared Rajpal, 35, brought dead, while another labourer, Ladin, 34, later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

Police said that those injured, including the truck driver, were recuperating.

"We have registered a case of negligence driving against both drivers and search is on to nab the cab driver," a police official said.
