“The education department officials should ensure that fire fighting equipments are installed in all government and private schools within a month time,” State Chief Secretary Atul Kumar Gupta said in an order here yesterday.

The circular has been issued in compliance with the Supreme Court order which has asked the states to make effective fire fighting arrangements in all schools.

The chief secretary said that the management of the schools should get an inspection done by PWD or engineers of other departments and obtain a certificate that the building conformed to National Building code norms.

“Recognition of schools which fail to make necessary arrangements within the stipulated time will be cancelled,” Gupta said in his order.
