Vijay Goel threatens to sue Kejriwal over insults

Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel has served Arvind Kejriwal with legal notice for making defamatory statements and allegations and sought an apology failing which he will file a criminal case against the AAP leader.

Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Vijay Goel has slapped a `1 crore defamation notice against Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal for ‘deliberately making false statements, accusing him of being corrupt’.

The notice quotes Kejriwal as saying in a pre-recorded telephone message: “What do you think if Mr Vijay Goel becomes the chief minister of Delhi, would he run the government with honesty? He would within four days leave Sheila Dikshit behind in corruption.” Kejriwal allegedly made similar remarks in his radio broadcasts as well.

AAP uses social media, pre-recorded messages and broadcasts for campaigning ahead of the Delhi assembly elections.

Goel has demanded an unconditional apology and a retraction. However, in response, Kejriwal reiterated his claim and said, “You claim you’re not corrupt. But Delhi’s citizens do not believe this. Forget citizens, even your party people don’t consider you as honest.” Kejriwal also accused the BJP of running a corrupt municipal administration.
