VP poll: NDA meet on July 16

With UPA declaring Hamid Ansari as its vice-presidential poll candidate, BJP on Saturday decided to go for a contest but maintained it will finalise its nominee after consulting NDA allies. The BJP core group met here on Saturday evening after UPA's announcement.

"We have decided to contest the vice-presidential election. A meeting of NDA allies has been convened on July 16 to discuss the issue. We will announce our candidate after due deliberations and consulting our allies," BJP's Ananth Kumar said.
