“Today, I stand vindicated.” Sibal has defeated his main opponent, BJP’s Vijender Gupta by a mammoth 2,00,710 votes. During the entire two-month long campaign period, Sibal’s opponents made a huge noise about his “inaccessibility”.

But on Saturday, as results poured in, Sibal had the last laugh. The high profile lawyer, with a degree from Harvard Law School in USA, said it was his work in the last term coupled with the “development plank” and Congress’ performance at the Centre that helped clinch the seat for the second time. Sibal said his priority would be to ensure basic facilities.

Q) What will be your priority for your constituency?

A) To complete the redevelopment project of Chandni Chowk. Improving the standard of education and health facilities in my constituency.

Q) What do you think went in your favour?

A) The hard work that I had done in my constituency in the last term paid off. Also the Congress’ performance at the Centre helped the party.
