We can’t close any signal on the road

Hindustan Times spoke with the top traffic cop about measures to unclog August Kranti Marg.

What are traffic police doing to ensure smooth passage to vehicles?
There are many residential colonies on either side of the road and that's why there are quite a few traffic signals along this stretch. We are now adjusting the timings and cycles of these traffic signals and synchronise them. A slip road is being constructed to connect the parking lot at Siri Fort.

Experts also suggest closure of couple of cuts to reduce number of traffic signals.
Since there are a number of residential colonies on either side, residents may resent it if we close couple of turns. It will also increase pressure on the remaining traffic signals. You need a lot of space to construct U-turns else it leads to further snarls. We are still open to suggestions.
