A 22-year-old pregnant woman has levelled allegations of rape against her live-in partner who refused to marry her after she got pregnant.

The matter came to light after the victim approached east Delhi's Mayur Vihar police and lodged a case against her live-in partner, identified as Noor Mohammad, 25, a resident of Yamuna Vihar.

On the basis of woman's complaint, in which she has also alleged that Noor stole her jewellery and was threatening her of dire consequences, a case was registered. Noor was arrested on Sunday and was later produced before a city court that sent him to jail.

A police officer said the victim said in her complaint that she lived with her parents in Seelampur area and was in a relationship with Noor for a couple of years. Last year, Noor proposed marriage and they started living together in a flat in Mayur Vihar.

"A few weeks back, the woman started pressurising Noor to get married, as she was four months pregnant. Noor, however, refused to marry her and fled. Finding herself cheated, the woman filed a complaint against him," said the officer.
