The incident took place in the afternoon, following which the woman, identified as Amarjeet Kaur, was rushed to a hospital, where she had to undergo surgery to amputate her left leg below the knee, a police officer said.
When CCTV grabs were checked, the woman was last spotted standing on the platform apparently waiting for a train going towards HUDA City Centre on the Yellow Line.
The police found a suicide note from the spot, in which Kaur wrote that she took the extreme step because of her family’s present financial condition, the officer said.
Kaur, whose husband passed away years ago, lives with her son Harjinder Singh at west Delhi’s Kirti Nagar area.
