A 30-year-old housewife got into trouble by simply putting her handbag in a X-Ray machine at a Metro station in south Delhi on Friday.

A 30-year-old housewife got into trouble by simply putting her handbag in a X-Ray machine at a Metro station in south Delhi on Friday.

Brigette C Chang, a resident of Lajpat Nagar, lost her handbag at the AIIMS Metro station around 12:15 pm. A man with nimble fingers flicked Chang’s bag from the baggage scanner in a 30-second con job.

“I put my bag into the baggage scanner and proceeded to the frisking section before stepping out to wait at the other end of the machine. I waited for more than five minutes, but the bag just didn’t come out,” Chang said.

She then approached a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) official at the screening counter, who allegedly shrugged and directed her to ‘look for her bag herself’.

“I then ran to the control room and demanded to see footage from a CCTV installed near the X-Ray machine,” she said.

“After much persuasion, I was allowed to see the footage which showed a man, evidently waiting for me to disappear behind the frisking section, before putting his hands on my bag, stuffing it in his backpack and walk briskly down to the platform. It was outrageous.”

Chang was then directed to approach the Delhi Police and got a criminal case registered at the Qutub Minar Metro Police Station.
