The central Delhi Police have busted a gang, involved in the unique crime, with the arrest of two elderly women. The arrested women have been identified as Neelam, 55, and Kanta, 50. They were apprehended from Chandi Chowk market area, where they had come to sell two bridal lehengas, worth Rs 4 lakh, which they had stolen from the boutique of a fashion designer in Karol Bagh.
Devesh Chandra Srivastava, ACP (central), said that the arrests came following investigation into a complaint lodged on January 6 by Shruti Dudani. “She had told us that five persons, including three women, came to her shop and after bargaining for about half an hour, they left. A few minutes later, she noticed that two bridal lehengas and four ladies suits were missing,” said Srivastava.
