Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Ranjana Aggarwal granted bail to Singh who appeared for the first time in court in connection with the case.

The 25-year-old dashing batsman, his mother Shabnam and seven others are accused of beating and wrongfully confining journalist Neelam Mahajan's son Yuvraj last year during the cricketer's birthday bash.

The court had earlier this month directed Singh to appear before it on August 18 and threatened him with a non-bailable warrants if he failed to comply with the order.

The cricketer's lawyer on Tuesday said that Singh would seek exemption from appearing in the court at the next hearing on August 18 as he would be playing international cricket.

Complainant Neelam Mahajan said that she had complete faith in the legal system and was sure that the culprits would be punished.
