Even at the age of 16, Lucknow’s joint third rank holder, Vaishnavi Singh of Rani Laxmi Bai Memorial Senior Secondart School, Indira Nagar, still loves to watch cartoon channel on TV. “Whenever I’m under stress, I switch to cartoon channel. It works like a medicine and all my stress and academic pressure vanishes,” said Vaishnavi.
She scored 497 marks and shares third rank with 58 other students. Vaishnavi scored a perfect 100 in English and social science and 99 in science, Hindi and Mathematics. She is eyeing IIT .
Poorti Srivastava of Lucknow Public School, LDA Colony also got third rank with a perfect 100 in Mathematics and English and 99 in social science, Hindi and science. She wants to do MBA to head some big corporate group. Her father, Ambrish Kumar Srivastava, works in a bank and mother Mamta Srivastava is a homemaker. She loves sketching.
Thirteen students were joint first rankers, scoring 499 marks. Of these, eight were from UP. The second rank was shared by 25 students with 498 marks and 13 of these were also from UP.
As many as 59 students shared the third rank, of which 19 were from UP, according to the merit list declared by the Board.
Out of 17,61,078 students who appeared in the CBSE Class 10 examinations, 16,04,428 cleared the exam. This pass percentage this year was 91.10% and 4.40% higher than last year’s 86.70%.
