With several Delhi University colleges announcing their third cutoff list on Monday, many aspirants striving to take admission in popular courses were not left disappointed.

Though many colleges filled their slots after the second cutoffs, seats of many reputed colleges are still up for grabs. Candidates will get three days to take admissions, beginning Tuesday.

Science
Students applying for science courses such as physics, chemistry and life sciences still have a chance to apply to Hansraj, Miranda House and Ramjas College. In Hansraj College, cutoffs for botany, chemistry and physics stood at 90%, 95% and 96%, respectively, while in Miranda House BSc life sciences remained open at 89%. In Ramjas also, admissions remained open for chemistry with a cutoff percentage of 94%. Most colleges, however, closed admissions for science courses with the second cutoff list.

Commerce
In many colleges seats remained vacant for both honours and programme courses in commerce. In south campus’ Lady Shri Ram College, admissions remained open for BCom (hons) at 97% in the third cutoff. However, colleges like Daulat Ram, Miranda House and Ramjas closed admissions for these courses. After the second cutoff list, even BCom (programme) was closed for admissions in many colleges. Gargi College will continue its admission process with 93.5% marks as its cutoff for BCom (programme).

Humanities
South campus’ Kamala Nehru College will continue admitting students for economics (hons) with marks ranging between 95.75% and 98%.

Lady Shri Ram College announced its third list for economics (hons) at 97%. English and History, a favourite among aspirants would also be up for grabs in Daulat Ram College (91.75% to 95.75%), Delhi College of Arts and Commerce (93.5%), Hindu College (93.75% to 97.75%) and Maharaja Agrasen College (89.75% to 91.75%). In most colleges, admission were closed for political science for the general category. However, seats remained vacant for the courses in the reserved categories.

Surprisingly after the programme courses were scrapped in 2013 under FYUP, teachers claimed that BA (programme) was likely to see many takers this session but seats remained vacant for the course in most colleges. In Kamala Nehru College, the cutoff for BA (programme) ranged between 82.5% and 89% and in LSR it stood at 95.25%.

All the colleges that offer Journalism as a course in Delhi University also shut shop. Many of them did not come out with a second list.

Like the second cutoff list, the third cut off list released on Monday also did not witness a drastic fall in percentage requirement but many students are likely to get a chance to change to the colleges which they desire.

Colleges like SRCC had closed admissions for its most sought after course Economics (Hons) with the first cutoff list itself. St Stephens’ and JMC carried out their admission process separately as provisioned by the university.

In Journalism also Kamala Nehru College and DCAC did not release a second cutoff list. In LSR, however, students who had not studied mass communication in class 12 faced a disadvantage of 2% marks which was not followed by any other college.
