GSEB HSC result 2018 declared, 55.5% clear 12th in humanities, commerce streams
More than 55% students cleared the HSC examinations in humanities and commerce streams as the results were declared by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) on Thursday.Updated: May 31, 2018 16:08 IST

More than 55% students cleared the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or Class 12 board examinations in humanities and commerce streams as the results were declared by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) on Thursday.
Last year, 56.02% students cleared the exams.
A total of 335,825 regular students appeared for the exams held by the board in March. Out of them, 232,580 cleared the examination, taking the pass percentage for the regular students at 68.96%, nearly 8% less than the previous year.
Ahwa had the highest pass percentage at 77.32 marking up its performance significantly from previous years when students from the tribal district lagged behind in almost all the board exams. The pass percentage in Chotta Udepur was the lowest at 31.54.
Girls once again remained ahead of boys among the regular students as 74.78% girls cleared the exam as compared to 63.7% of boys.
The number of schools with 100% result has gone up to 206 this year from 81 in 2017. And, the number of schools with the result less than 10% has come down to 76 from 126 in 2017. The number of students with A1 grade went up 451 from 257.
The board’s chairperson AJ Shah said they also conducted the exams at various jails across the state and 16 inmates wrote them but only one cleared it.
