IGNOU launches programme for diabetics’ care

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has started a Certificate Programme in Diabetes Care for Community Workers, which aims to disseminate information about Diabetes mellitus to the common people and equip them with the skills to manage the disease better.

This certificate programme has been developed to build up a community level workforce to work in diabetic clinics, health centers at community level and in diabetic clinics in hospitals. It is expected to start in the session beginning July 2009.

The programme is open to students who have passed 10+ 2, preferably with science. The duration of the programme is six months and the sessions start from July to December and January to June. Available seats are 15-30 per session and the course fee is Rs. 2,000.

Avalon Academy and Thomas Cook join hands

Avalon Academy, the aviation training arm of Aptech Limited, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Thomas Cook India Limited (TCIL), one of the largest travel group in the world to introduce a specialised diploma programme in travel and tourism, an industry-institute partnership. The one year programme would include two months internship with Thomas Cook to expose them to the practical aspects of the industry.
