Exit poll 2023 live updates: Predictions for Telangana, Rajasthan, MP, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram out

As voting in Telangana is still on, there is an embargo on airing exit polls before 5.30 pm by the Election Commission.

Telugu star Mahesh Babu and Vijay Deverakonda arrived at Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad to cast their votes in the ongoing Telangana assembly elections. Taking to Instagram, Mahesh Babu shared a picture with his wife Namrata which a caption, "Cast your vote! We just did! #EveryVoteMatters."

Vijay Deverakonda said, “I heard that the polling percentage is a little low. I request all the young boys and girls who have their voting ID and election card to come and vote. Come with your families and vote, you should do it.”

PM Modi addressed beneficiaries of different schemes as part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra saying, "In various corners of the country there is such enthusiasm for the yatra and there is a reason for it, as people have seen Modi, his work, in the last 10 years and therefore, they have immense confidence in the government and its efforts."

"People have also seen that period when past governments used to consider themselves 'mai-baap' of the people. Therefore, even after decades of independence, a big portion of the population was deprived of basic facilities," the PM said.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi hailed the healthcare programme initiated by the Rajasthan government while inaugurating a new block at a private hospital in Wayanad. Rahul Gandhi said, “I think at the national level we need to rethink the way we think about healthcare and I think one of the guarantees that the national government should think about is healthcare at really low cost, especially to the poor people. We have done some work on this in Rajasthan and hopefully if we come to power in 2024, we will try and implement these types of ideas across the nation.”

Telangana recorded a voter turnout of 51.89 per cent till 3 pm in the assembly polls that is currently underway for 119 seats. Election Commission data showed that Medak recorded a voter turnout of 69.33 per cent, Mahabubabad 65.05 per cent, Adilabad 62.34 per cent, Hanumankonda 49 per cent and Hyderabad 31.17 per cent till 3 pm.

Polling is currently underway in Telangana to 119 constituencies. The state is witnessing a three-way contest between the incumbent Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by incumbent chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Congress, and BJP.

Madhya Pradesh is currently ruling by the BJP with Shivraj Singh Chouhan serving as the chief minister. The elections took place on November 17 for the 231 seats assembly.

Elections in Rajasthan were held on November 25 for 199 assembly seats. Rajasthan is currently ruled by Congress under the leadership of chief minister Ashok Gehlot.

Chhattisgarh was the only state that voted in two phases. The election to the 90-member assembly was held on November 7 and November 17. Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are going head-to-head in the state.

The Election Commission of India (ECI), in a notification, informed that the exit polls can be out after 5:30 pm.

"In Commission's Notification No. 576/Exitl2023/SDRIV 01.1 dated 3pt October 2023 for the words and figures "7:00 AM on 7th November 2023(Tuesday) and 6.30 PM on 30th November 2023 (Thursday)" the words and figures 7:00 AM on 7th November 2023(Tuesday) and 5.30 PM on 30th November 2023 (Thursday) may be substituted," the ECI stated.

The Election Commission, on several occasions, ensures a level playing field for all parties as authorities seized freebies, drugs, cash and liquor worth over ₹1766 crore during the election process. The Election Commission also issued show cause notices and advisories to top politicians to adhere to the provisions of the model code of conduct.

Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot predicted that the BJP is not going to win in any of the five poll-going states ahead of the exit polls. “No matter what exit polls say, Congress will form the government in Rajasthan. BJP is not winning in any of the 5 states,” he said.

These elections in five states are crucial as they are taking place months before the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April-May next year.

The results of the five assembly elections will be declared on Sunday- December 3.

The election dates for the five states are as follows: Mizoram on November 7, Chhattisgarh on November 7 and November 17, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 25, and Telangana on November 30.

According to the poll commission, Adilabad recorded a voter turnout of 41.88 per cent, Bhadradri at 39.29 per cent, Hanumankonda at 35.29 per cent and Jagtial at 46.14 per cent.

In a revised notification, the Election Commission has clarified that Exit Poll results can be announced after 5.30pm on Thursday.

Ashok Gehlot said there are three reasons why he believes the BJP is not winning anywhere in these 5 states. "There is no anti-incumbency in Rajasthan. This is what I have gathered after speaking to people. "BJP's voters are also saying that we have worked. The third reason why BJP will lose is because of the language the BJP leaders who came here for campaigning used. PM Modi and other tall BJP leaders used a language of anger, threat," Gehlot said.
