It was a close contest with Bharatiya Janata Party's Pabubha Virambha Manek winning the election upstaging Indian National Congress's Ahir Meraman Markhi by a margin of just 5,739 votes.
The top two candidates split 92.7% of votes between them. Bharatiya Janata Party's Pabubha Virambha Manek got a total of 73,431 votes, while Indian National Congress's Ahir Meraman Markhi secured 67,692 votes. Nationalist Congress Party's candidate Madam Ranmalbhai Lakhubhai secured 2,829 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 48.2%, 44.5% and 1.9% respectively.
