Karnataka Election: Tumkur Rural Assembly Constituency 2023
Tumkur Rural comes under the Tumkur district and it is one of the 224 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Constituencies. People of Tumkur Rural voted for Karnataka Assembly Election 2023 on May 10 and the result was declared on May 13.
Tumkur Rural assembly constituency had 1,99,594 electors in 2018, out of which 1,00,050 were male voters and 99,521 females. The None of the Above (NOTA) option got 0.8% votes.
In the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election, there were 12 candidates in the fray from Tumkur Rural constituency. Tumkur Rural was one of 37 seats won by the Janata Dal (Secular). It was a close contest with Janata Dal (Secular)'s D C Gowrishankar winning the election upstaging Bharatiya Janata Party's B Suresh Gowda by a margin of just 5,640 votes.
The top two candidates split 93.6% of votes between them. Janata Dal (Secular)'s D C Gowrishankar got a total of 82,740 votes, while Bharatiya Janata Party's B Suresh Gowda secured 77,100 votes. Indian National Congress's candidate Rayasandra Ravikumar secured 7,633 votes to finish at the third place. The top three parties got 48.4%, 45.1% and 4.5% respectively.
In Karnataka Assembly election 2013, Bharatiya Janata Party's B.Suresh Gowda defeated Janata Dal (Secular)'s Gowrishankar.D.C. by 1,572 votes.
