Tweeting troubles?

Ad-man Prahlad Kakkar takes a look at the tweeting patterns of stars:

Only when needed: "Stars update only when it is needed. When they feel it’s time to connect with the audience, i.e. to give a clarification or to promote their films.

Agenda for attention: They ask for audience feedback, ‘do I look sexy’ ‘have I lost weight’. It's a good platform for them when they want attention from people.

Don’t trust the media: Stars don’t want any third party between them and their fans. Also, if they’re misquoted they can make their feelings known.

Not their job: It’s not their responsibility to tweet daily, and the stars know that. But, they should realise that they have so many fans who follow them and look forward to their posts

Hire someone: They should all hire ghostwriters. It will generate more jobs. They anyway don’t know how to write well, so at least we’ll read better tweets.

Actor Kangna Ranaut not only has a twitter account but also has a blog in her name to take care off. But, the diva is not regular on any of them. Her last tweet on October 22 was, "Luv knws no limit 2 its endurance, no end 2 its trust, no fading of its hope; it can outlast anything. Luv still stands when all else has fallen." When asked why she’s been silent for so long, her manager said, "She is too occupied with work."

He’s among the celebrities with the most followers on the microblogging site, but actor Shah Rukh Khan seems to have abandoned his Twitter handle iamsrk. His last tweet was on a month ago, on November 2, his birthday, when he thanked fans for their whishes and put up a photograph of himself with his children in Berlin. "SRK has been really occupied with the shooting of Don 2 in Berlin, and was unable to tweet at the time. He may start again soon," says a source. He has posted 2139 tweets till date.

Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar last tweeted during Commonwealth Games. Like actor Shah Rukh Khan, Akhtar too was in Berlin, busy with the filmning of Don 2. With big stars such as SRK, Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan to manage on the sets, it’s no wonder that he’s got no time.

Sanjay Dutt seems too occupied for his 127,435 followers, who last heard from him around Diwali. On November 5, Dutt wished all his fans a happy Diwali and has been silent ever since. “Dutt is busy taking care of his newly born children and his wife, Maanayata. That’s why he’s not finding enough time to interact with his fans. But, he’ll be back soon as things are falling into place. His babies are home and doing well. He has a release soon, so he’ll be back,” said a source close to the actor.

Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan, who has 401,717 followers, seems to forgotten the existence of Twitter. The actor has not tweeted even once in past four months. His last tweet was in August, when he asked fans to update him on the latest cric ket score. When Aamir decided to join Twitter, he said he was doing it only at the behest of superstar Amitabh Bachchan. However, Khan has made no secret about the fact that he’s not comfortable with the format of the site. In past five months, he has tweeted just 82 times.
