Domestic violence never an issue for Gibson

When Mel Gibson agreed to pay his ex-girlfriend settlement money, his aim was not to suppress evidence of domestic violence. In fact, he just wanted to salvage his public image.

Actor Mel Gibson and his lawyers never thought domestic violence was even an issue, sources claim.

They were not trying to suppress evidence of domestic violence when they agreed to pay Oksana Grigorieva and Lucia approximately 15 million dollars in return for the destruction of "evidence", according to sources connected with the mediation.

Instead they were trying to prevent the destruction of Gibson's image, reports

Sources say the photograph of Oksana - showing what appears to be either teeth or veneers missing -- was not part of the deal.

Oksana's lawyer said in the mediation that photographs of Oksana's mouth existed, but when it came time to define "evidence" that would be destroyed, the photos were not included.
