Two consecutive hits, Wake Up Sid and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, has made Ranbir Kapoor the ‘Star of 2009’. Exults trade analyst Amod Mehra, "He’s chosen his films carefully. That’s worked for him. He’s going slow but steady. And even the debacle of Rocket Singh— Salesman Of The Year will not affect his market viability because though the film didn’t work commercially, it wowed the critics and Ranbir’s performance got him another thumbs up. He’s arrived."
Taran Adarsh of Bollywoodhungama.com agrrees with Mehra, asserting that Kapoor Jr has everything it takes to become a superstar. “He’s poised. He can stand out in a crowd. And best of all, he doesn’t imitate anyone, not even his father, Rishi Kapoor” points out Adarsh. He adds that another plus-point for the 29-year-old actor is that he has age on his side. Mehra seconds that view: “In the below- 30-age-bracket Ranbir has no competition. His success ratio is better than his contemporarries and his performances are far superior. He will possibly have the longest run among the current breed of young actors because he’s not the sort to fall apart easily,” predicts Mehra.
