Rajan Verma played the role of Ajmal Kasab in the film Ashok Chakra (2010). But little did he know that two years down the line, his pictures would be splashed across Pakistani newspapers, websites and TV channels, branding him as the deceased prime perpetrator of the 26/11 terror attacks.

The Pakistani media has extensively covered Kasab’s hanging. And accompanying all the reports of his execution are stills of Rajan from his film, Ashok Chakra. Irked by the irresponsible use of his pictures, the actor has now filed a defamation case against the media houses.

“I have taken action against a few channels, including Geo News, Pakistan News and The Nation. This is irresponsible journalism,” says an outraged Rajan.

The actor has sued the channels for Rs 10 crore. He is also keeping the Indian and the Pakistani High Commission in the loop. “I have sent my advocate, with a notice demanding the removal of the pictures immediately. I am currently awaiting their response. This is really distressing. I am an actor not a criminal,” says Rajan.
