Let me enjoy courtship a little longer: Vidya

The marriage talk refuses to go away for Vidya Balan. When she was shooting for The Dirty Picture in Hyderabad, there was a buzz about her wedding in a temple there. The actor clears the air about her 'secret' wedding, reports Roshmila Bhattacharya.

By now, everyone knows that Vidya Balan is dating UTV CEO Siddharth Roy-Kapur. The actor doesn’t deny it either: “Yes, I’m in a relationship. Why should I deny it? I don’t need to.”

However, she does refute rumours that she’s getting ready to tie the knot early next year. “Let me enjoy the courtship a little longer, I have a lifetime ahead of me to enjoy the joys of marriage. I’ve always lived for the moment, whether in my personal or professional life. Today, I’m grateful to God that I am where I am…It’s a happy space,” she smiles.

However, despite her denials the marriage talk refuses to go away. When she was shooting for The Dirty Picture in Hyderabad, Twitter was buzzing about her secret ‘shaadi’ (wedding) in a temple there. Days later, when she returned to Mumbai for a shoot, she was supposed to have taken off on a honeymoon to a destination unknown.

The speculations are greeted with an amused laugh, “I was shooting at the Ramoji Rao Film City and since that was the only day we were in the city, I grabbed the chance to visit my uncle and aunt. The rumours reached us too and we had a big laugh over the hullabaloo, with me wondering if I had got married to myself in the ‘mandir’ (temple) since there was no groom in sight.”

Vidya agrees that such gossip is inevitable, saying, “When you’re single, people wonder who you’re dating. When you’re going steady, they debate over when you’ll settle, and once you’re married, they speculate over when the baby is due.” She adds with mock fright, “Thank God, the sequence of events is following a logical course. It would be worrying if I got pregnant before taking my vows.”

Given her hectic promotional schedule for her upcoming The Dirty Picture, does she even manage to meet her beau? She retorts, “You always find time for your loved ones and you don’t even have to make too much of an effort. It happens naturally because that’s non-negotiable.”
