Barbadian singer Rihanna, who has off late been addressing rumours and controversies surrounding her songs and performances on Twitter, claims that she was never a fan of the social networking site as she could not understand why anyone would want to read about her day-to-day business.
Rihanna, 23, whose own page was initially launched by record label representatives to alert fans about new releases, did not initially want to join the celebrity Twitter craze. She only decided to take over the microblog last year, to communicate with fans personally, and it was only then that she realised the power of social networking.
“I started to figure out that you can treat it like a giant chat room — I can respond directly to people’s questions,” Contactmusic quoted her as telling Cosmopolitan magazine. “It makes it easier to deal with the flak around you,” she added.
