Benedict Cumberbatch has revealed that he won't join Twitter because he prefers privacy over social networking.

The Sherlock star said that if anyone is trying to hoodwink by pretending to be him, then that's pretty cruel because he's not on the micro-blogging site, the Mirror reported.

Cumberbatch added that he does not want to share details of his life on social media.

The issue of mimicry also figured when a modest Cumberbatch talked about being cast in the roles of brilliant characters in Hollywood movies. He said it was "very flattering on one account and disturbing on the other as I'm far removed in intelligence from some of the characters I've been asked to portray."
