The film is based on Kalidasa's acclaimed Sanskrit play Abhigyanam Shakuntalam, the film is written and directed by award-winning director Gunasekhar. She also has upcoming romantic drama Kushi, with Vijay Deverakonda. It will release in 2023. Samantha will start her shoot for the Indian installment of the Citadel universe alongside Varun Dhawan.
