Actor Ameesha Patel has been busy planning BFF Maanayata Dutt’s baby shower, which she is hosting in Mumbai today. Actor Sanjay Dutt’s wife Maanayata is expecting twins in January, and has been trying to convince Ameesha to tie the knot, too. “But, I don’t listen,” says Ameesha.

“Maana keeps saying, ‘I am going to have kids, and they need company’, but there is time for me,” she says. About the baby shower, she says, “Everything’s going fabulous — fun games, return gifts, interesting mocktails and Indian cuisine. I have chosen unusual dishes.” Ameesha has also decided every last detail of the decor herself. The bash is important to her because “Sanju and Maana are my only good friends in the industry.”

Known to read books on the sets, Ameesha says that at times she feels like a misfit. “The norm here is that if you have spare time, you should either be bitching or gossiping. I have no enemies, and hence I stick to reading on the sets. Also, I believe in my own development and awareness. I was once chatting with a co-actor about how Dr Manmohan Singh has done an excellent job with the economy, and she said, ‘Who is Manmohan Singh?’”

Ameesha, who was in town for the promotion of fashion brand Vero Moda, says she loves the Capital. “I love coming to Delhi... there is great food; I always go back two kilos heavier. I love shopping here, and I especially love the wide roads that you don’t get to see in Mumbai.”
