Ahead of Hospital Playlist 2, a look at where Jo Jung-suk, Jung Kyung-ho, and others left things in S1
Hospital Playlist season 1 was filled with music, love and a tad bit of drama. Before we dive into the Hospital Playlist season 2, let's look at where each character is at when we last saw them.
Hospital Playlist season 2 is set to premiere this week. Actors Jo Jung-suk, Jung Kyung-ho, Yoo Yeon-seok, Jeon Mi-do and Kim Dae-myung will reprise their roles as doctors in the highly-anticipated second season of the K-drama show. The first season of the tvN drama featured 12 episodes and ran from March 2020 to May 2020.
Hospital Playlist revolves around five doctors Lee Ik-jun (Jo Jung-suk), Ahn Jeong-won (Yoo Yeon-seok), Kim Jun-wan (Jung Kyung-ho), Yang Seok-hyeong (Kim Dae-myung), and Chae Song-hwa (Jeon Mi-do) who meet in medical school and remain friends until their late 30s. While they are highly competent surgeons, they also have a music band together.
Before we dive into the new season, here's a quick look at where the first season concluded:
- Lee Ik-joon confesses his feelings for Chae Song-hwa:
Lee Ik-joon had been hinting about his feelings for Chae Song-hwa through the episodes leading up to the finale. However, when Chae Song-hwa moved to the Sokcho branch of the hospital, Lee Ik-joon paid her a visit and finally expressed his feelings to her. Although he said he liked her, watching her at a loss of words, he asked Chae Song-hwa to take her time in giving him a response, leaving the finale on a cliffhanger.
- Yang Seok-hyung receives a call from his ex-wife:
Yang Seok-hyung was pursued by second-year resident Chu Min-ha (played Ahn Eun-jin) through the season. She even professed her attraction towards him. However, Yang Seok-hyung admitted he couldn't reciprocate it. In the finale episode, while Chu Min-ha requested him to join her for dinner, Yang Seok-hyung shot the offer down, only to receive a call from his ex-wife. With a moment of hesitation, Yang Seok-hyung finally picked the call, leaving fans wondering what could happen next.
- Kim Jun-wan faces another hurdle in his long-distance relationship:
In the episodes building up to the Hospital Playlist season 1 finale, Kim Jun-wan ended up in a long-distance relationship after his girlfriend Lee Ik-sun (played by Kwak Sun-young), moved to the United Kingdom. After massive contemplation, Kim Jun-wan finally decides to send her a ring, as a mark of their bond. However, he was left stunned when the box returned to him. The heartbreaking moment paved the way for several questions.
- Ahn Jeong-won forgoes his dream of becoming a priest:
Fans who were hoping for Ahn Jeong-won and Jang Gyeo-ul (played by Shin Hyun-been) to end up together were celebrating when the couple shared their first kiss. Ahn Jeong-won, who was hellbent on becoming a priest, seemed to have realised that he was attracted to Jang Gyeo-ul. Although she made the first move, by expressing her feelings for him and requesting him to not leave South Korea, he stepped up and kissed her.
Hospital Playlist 2's episode 1 will premiere on June 17.
